Join us for a CS Makers lesson that is just as powerful in the middle school math classroom as the CS class. Participants will experience a CS Makers lesson first hand as they build a circuit and light an LED, then analyze how increasing the intensity impacts the LED strobe frequency variation. Analysis of the physical model gives meaning to the general expression for the relationship between the variables, and deepens the middle school student's understanding of proportional reasoning. CS Makers was designed here in Alabama to engage all students in computing, especially those from populations traditionally underrepresented in computer science. The curriculum design and implementation are currently led by math/CS faculty at TU and UNA, with support from ALSDE and NSF.

Limited to 25 participants.
